Del victorious at Sharon Speedway Season Opener |
|
Del Rougeux Jr. and the Rougeux Motorsports Team celebrated the 2007 Sharon Speedway season opener in grand style as Del picked up his first feature win of 2007 on Saturday, April 21st. Del battled Ron Smoker and Rob Curtis for the lead before taking over for good on lap 21. Del then held off the challenges of 2006 Sharon Speedway Champion Brian Swartzlander and New York star Ron Smoker for the victory. “First and foremost I want to dedicate this win to my good friend and fellow competitor Dean Pearson who was injured at the Lernerville Speedway on Friday. Myself and the entire Rougeux Motorsports Team wish him a speedy recovery.” A very elated Del was also quick to credit his fellow competitors for running an excellent race. “I want to say that both Rob Curtis and Ron Smoker ran a nice clean race in spite of the less than perfect track conditions. I always enjoy competing with Ron as he was the one who inspired the Rougeux Motorsports Team to step up our program a few years. We would like to welcome him back from his retirement and we look forward to competing with him again in 2007. I also need to thank Bicknell Racing Products for building an excellent race car and Jerry Higbie of Hig Fab for reclipping this car in the off-season.”
The Rougeux Motorsports Team also competed this past Friday at the Lernerville Speedway. Del was able to capture a third place finish in the feature event after starting in the eighth place of the 25 lap feature event. The team sits in the third position of the Lernerville Speedway DIRT Modified Points which is their best ever start at the speedway.
Del and the Rougeux Motorsports Team will concentrate on maintenance as they prepare for their first three race weekend of the season. Weather permitting the Rougeux Motorsports Team will compete this Friday, April 27th at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA and return to the Sharon Speedway the following night, Saturday, April 28th. The Team will conclude the weekend at the Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, PA on Sunday April 29th.
The newly designed team apparel is available at the Rougeux Motorsports trailer in the pit area. The cost of the T-shirts is $20.00. To accommodate fans who cannot enter the pit area, orders will be taken at the LernerviIle Speedway Press Box this Friday. Fans just need to stop upstairs with their T-shirt size and payment and a representative from the Rougeux Motorsports Team will be glad to fill their order.
