Del Scores Another Victory at Sharon |
|
Del Rougeux Jr. and the Rougeux Motorsports Team celebrated the Memorial Day weekend by visiting Victory Lane at the Sharon Speedway on Saturday, May 26th. In what was definitely the most exciting Modified Feature event in recent memory, Del emerged as the victor by a narrow .013 margin over fellow competitors Rex King and Rob Curtis. Del bolted into the lead from the third starting position and battled with King and Curtis throughout the 25-lap feature event that concluded with a dramatic photo finish. “I definitely need to thank my father for his assistance,” stated an exuberant Del, “we discussed several chassis adjustments this week in the garage and they definitely paid off tonight. The Vinyl Graphics Unlimited/Maloney Tool and Mold/Primetime Limousine 2007X Bicknell was extremely fast tonight. In addition I also need to thank Dean Pearson, Bud McGinnis and Jerry Higbee for their assistance.” The Sharon Speedway victory was sandwiched between a Friday race and the Lernerville Speedway and a Sunday show at the Tri-City Speedway. On Friday evening Del pulled his best pill of the season at Lernerville(a number 16) and that put the 2007X Bicknell on the front row of Del’s heat event. The Rougeux Motorsports Team quickly grabbed the lead and Del went onto capture his second Lernerville Speedway heat victory of 2007. Once again the Lernerville Speedway feature redraw found Del starting at the front of the 25 lap feature event. Del was able to lead eight laps before fading to a rather disappointing fourth place finish as the Vinyl Graphics Unlimited/Maloney Tool and Mold/Primetime Limousine driver made the best of a bad track surface with no top to run on. Sunday’s racing action at the Tri-City Speedway turned into a marathon as rain showers delayed the start of the evening’s racing action and also returned in the middle of the feature event, forcing Del and the Rougeux Motorsports Team to endure a forty minute delay before the evening’s feature event could be completed. Del started the 30 lap BRP Modified Tour 07 feature event in the “Lucky 13th” position and immediately began to move forward on the lightning fast track. Del battled several competitors before contact from a fellow competitor damaged the 2007X Bicknell and relegated Del to a sixth place finish. Del is currently in the second position of the season long points battles at both Lernerville and Sharon. Del Rougeux Jr. and the Rougeux Motorsports Team will head back to the Lernerville Speedway on Friday, June 1st to battle New York invaders Charlie Donk and Ron Smoker in a BRP Modified Tour 07 event. Saturday evening the Rougeux Motorsports Team will be back in competition at the Sharon Speedwat hoping to make in two in a row. The team will conclude the weekend on Sunday evening at the Tri-City Speedway.
