Del Victorious at Lernerville and Sharon |
|
Del Rougeux Jr. and the Rougeux Motorsports Team continued their Fourth of July celebration by capturing back to back feature wins this past weekend. Del drove a flawless race on Friday, July 6th, at the Lernerville Speedway to capture the 25 lap “Christmas in July” feature event. The evening began with Del pulling the Number 44 pill which relegated the Vinyl Graphics Unlimited/Maloney Tool and Mold/Primetime Limousine Bicknell Chassis to a sixth place starting position. Del carefully maneuvered his way into the lead by lap three and went on to collect his fifth Lernerville Speedway heat race victory of the year. The feature redraw found Del starting in the “Lucky Seventh” position. In just four short laps Del had moved to the second position. “Lady Luck was certainly riding with the Rougeux Motorsports Team as the events only caution flew on lap five. Del was right on the bumper of race leader Brian Swartzlander and quickly maneuvered by Swartzlander to take the lead by the time the field crossed the start/finish line on lap six. The Rougeux Motorsports 20D then cruised to an easy victory. “I need to thank my entire crew for all of their hard work and dedication. We are in the midst of a four race week and will do the same for the upcoming week. Everyone on the team(my father, Kevin, Cheryl, Bud, Jason and Glenn) deserve this win as much as I do. Their assistance is greatly appreciated!” stated a very happy Del. In addition to the entire Rougeux Motorsports crew Del was joined by Santa Claus for the victory lane festivities. After short night’s rest Del Jr., Del Sr. and the entire Rougeux Motorsports Team were off to the Sharon Speedway for another action packed Saturday night. The afternoon was spent doing routine maintenance and as the sun was setting it was time for the racing action to begin. Unfortunately driver error concerning the gear selection for the heat race found the Rougeux Motorsports #20D finishing in the fifth position. A consultation between Del Sr. and Del Jr. quickly resolved the problem and the Rougeux Motorsports Team was once again pacing the field once the 25 lap feature event started. Del led every circuit of the feature event as he “rode the cushion” to his third Sharon Speedway victory of the season. The stellar performance also moved Del into the divisional points lead. Once again “The Frenchville Flyer” was quick to credit his crew for their work. “I made a bad decision with gear for the heat race. My father and I corrected that for the feature event and once again I need to thank the entire crew for a job well done. These guys are great and this victory is for them,” said Del. Del Jr. and Del Sr. are now hard at work in the garage preparing for a mid –week event on Thursday, July 12th, at the Expo Speedway. The Rougeux Motorsports Team will be back in action on Friday, July13th, at the Lernerville Speedway as they hope to make it two in a row at the Sarver, PA oval. Saturday night the team will return to the Sharon Speedway and then conclude the weekend on Sunday night at the Tri-City Speedway.
