Friday night started out with a good pill pull for heat race starting positions, as I pulled a number 10, which started me on the outside pole of the heat. I took the lead into the first corner and held it for two laps, then the car tightened up and I started pushing through the corner. I was able to hold on to a fourth finishing position, which put us into the lottery roll for feature lineup position. We started 8th in the feature, after changing our complete shock package and preparing tires for the feature it was time to see if my changes worked. I was able to get several cars on the initial start, track was very rough and slick on the straight aways. With the help of some restarts, I was able to get into 3rd by lap 15, and was working my way to the leaders. I had caught the leaders with 2 laps to go, was setting up a pass on the 2nd place car and contact was made between the leaders, the downside to this was, the 2nd place car ended up sideways in front of me, and had almost stopped so he didn’t get into the mud in the inside of the track. I cut the car right to avoid him, and reset the car, as I did this the first two cars took off again and I had been passed by two more. I tried to get back around one of them, but was unable to, so our first finish at Lernerville was a 5th place. I couldn’t complain any, the car was very good, and without the last lap deal, we were at least secured into a top three finish. I need to thank Pat Macaulay at Bilstein; the new shock package was phenomenal. Saturday night had us at Mercer Raceway Park, for the BRP Tour season opener. This has not been one of my better tracks, but tonight this would all change. My pill pull was not as good as the prior night; we started our heat in the 9th position. But that was only a starting spot, the car was so good, I was able to make a high side pass through turn one on the start and put myself into 5th, worked my way to 3rd by the end of the heat. This put us into the redraw for the feature, where I pulled a number 2 which gave me the outside pole. The crew worked on checking all parts of the car and I had prepared a new left rear tire to tighten the car up a little bit for the feature, the track was drying out slightly. The feature event did not hold as much excitement as the night before, we ran 2nd all the event, with a last lap caution, things heated up. I made one last charge on the leader, as we ran into the first corner together, I was unable to pull him off the corner, but made another attempt through turns 3 and 4. Not able to beat him to the checkered flag, we came home with a 2nd place, which I was satisfied with. This weekend we will be at Lernerville Speedway, Friday night is the first point’s night of the season. I’m still working on putting my entire schedule together; we will be traveling more this year. Looking at calling Canandaigua Speedway in New York our normal Saturday night home, with Sharon Speedway limiting our racing to 9 events, I do not feel this is fair to the fans or drivers. Hoping everyone has a great week, and hope to see everyone at the tracks soon. Later, Del
