update for May 3rd, 2009
Friday night started out the way everyone wants a night too. We won our heat in decisive fashion, and about 15 minutes afterwards the skies opened up, and the races were cancelled. That heat race win was scrubbed and we will redraw and have to run a new heat this coming week.
Saturday was off to my new Saturday night home, Canandaigua Speedway. We had a 12th place finish in the feature, not my best run, but still trying to figure the track out. The track itself is way different than the western PA tracks, and the longer distance runs in the feature is making things a little harder, but we will work it all out. A few of the drivers have been really helpful in helping me with the change.
Sunday we ventured off to Rolling Wheels Raceway, this is a huge 5/8 mile speedway. Fell in love with the track as soon as I saw it. Was one spot out of qualifying in the heat race, so I had to run the consolation event. I lead the whole event and after a last lap yellow, Ryan Phelps made a last lap pass on my outside to take the win, but we still made the show. We started 22nd in the event and made it up to 18th, passes were hard to make, but the experience was very valuable.
This week we will be racing Lernerville and Canandaigua speedways. Looking forward to racing Cayuga County Speedway later in the month on Sundays also we will be racing all the BRP Tour events in Western PA this season. We BRP Tour will be firing up full tilt in a few weeks, with the first visit to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on May 23rd. Then on Sunday May 24th the BRP Tour will be racing at Tri-City Speedway, where we are 2 time track Champions.
Until next week, hope everyone has a great week, and gets a chance to go and catch a race.
Later,
Del
