Update for May 17th 2009
The weekend started out at Lernerville speedway with a 16 pill pulled for our heat race, which started me on the outside pole of the heat. I took the lead on the initial start and won the heat by 7 seconds over the 2nd place car. Because we had won the prior week, we had to start 12th in the feature event. We adjusted the car a slight bit, and went to the track for the feature event. By lap 5 I took over the lead and took off for our second win in a row at Lernerville speedway. The Bilstein shocks were hooking up to the slippery surface and the motor from Kriner’s Racing Engines is such a dream to drive on the slick racetracks, it has such controlled power.
Saturday at Canandaigua Speedway was rained out , so we decided to take the advantage of the situation and stay over and run Tri-City Speedway on Sunday as a tune up for Sunday May 24th’s BRP Tour event. I had a handful in the heat race; the car was dumping onto the right rear corner really bad and was not moving forward. Because of the bad run in the heat race we started 20th in the feature event. With some major changes made by the crew, which now includes Kevin Rabold’s nephew Nathan; who is working into the team perfectly, we went to start the feature event. I could tell from the first lap that we had made the proper changes. As the laps passed by we were passing a car a lap, at the end we finished 4th, Tri-City’s features are only 20 lap events. I was pleased with the way the car was handling; I feel we have a very good starting point for this Sunday’s BRP Tour event.
This week we will be at Lernerville Speedway on Friday night, Saturday we will be off to Pittsburgh PA Motor Speedway for “Monster Mod Mania” with the BRP Tour, and then Sunday we will be returning to Tri-City Speedway for another BRP Tour event. This should be a great weekend of racing, the crew is all pumped up, and I will be glad to have Pat and Bruce from Bilstein Shock Absorbers with us for the weekend.
Hope to see everyone soon at a racetrack, and also I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend.
Later,
Del
