update 8/9/09
Friday night at Lernerville Speedway we started in the 7th position in my heat race, by lap 4 of the 8 lap event I had the lead and was on my way to another heat race win. Lernerville actually has a bonus for winning the most heat races in a season, and also heat races have a point value, so winning these events are beneficial. We redrew number 7 for our starting spot in the feature event, the crew did the normal set up changes for the feature and we were prepared. Lap 1 in turns 3 & 4 the leader spun out collecting myself and about 5 other cars, the car had slight suspension damage but not enough to go pit side. We had to start from last starting position; we were working our way forward by lap 9 I was in 2nd place and by lap 15 I had taken the lead and drove on to our 3rd victory of the season at Lernerville Speedway
Saturday at Canandaigua Speedway was not as exciting. I had a bad time trial, car was way too loose. We started 8th in the heat race, I was bumped over the cushion in turns 1 & 2 and fell back, I worked my way up to 9th. We had to run the consolation race, where we started 8th. I worked my way into 4th for the last transfer position with 2 laps to go, and made the show. We started 26th in the main event and worked our way up to 16th, on lap 92 of the 100 lap event I had a left front tire come apart, and made slight contact with the jersey barrier exiting turn 4 which took us out of the event. We were scored in 22nd position.
I was very happy with the car performance over the weekend, and feel things are working our way now. This weekend we will be at Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park for another BRP Tour event. Weather is looking great for the weekend so far, hope everyone gets a chance to get out and see some racing.
Later,
