With the weather forecast sounding a bit on the “iffy” side, we headed to Lernerville Speedway Friday afternoon for the Super Dirt Series/ BRP Tour race. We time trialed and ran our heat race as we went onto the track for our heat race, the rain started, and never stopped, we finished 5th in the heat event and are qualified for the makeup race scheduled for October 23rd, which is also the weekend of “The Steel City Stampede” at Lernerville Speedway, this will give us a 75 lap feature and a 25 lap feature at the track on this weekend. Saturday after some normal car maintenance we packed up and headed to Mercer Raceway Park for a Big Block / Small Block combination race. We started 7th in our heat and made it to 3rd when the checkered flag flew; this put us in the pill draw where I drew number 8 to start the main event. When the green flag was displayed, I started my charge to the front, as I was making the pass for 3rd, on lap ten, the car got out from under me and I spun in turn four. With no damage I went to the rear of the field and started working my way forward. I had my work cut out, Mercer is a small tight little bullring style track, and your normally in traffic all night long. On lap 20 I had made it into 12th position, with 5 laps left I used everything I had left and pulled off a 5th place finish by the checkered flag. After the race, I was inspecting the car and had found the right rear window had been struck by some debris, bending in about 5 inches of the aluminum that holds the window; this disrupted how the air traveled across the rear deck and made for a tough handling car. This week we are off to Sharon Speedway in Hartford, OH for another BRP Tour race. Hope everyone can catch a race before the season has ended. Until next week, hope everyone has a good week. Later, Del
